Bobby Cupparo is a custom color realism and surrealist tattoo artist currently based in Austin, TX, guest spotting at Hustle Butter Tattoo NYC on a regular basis — drawn back to the city that helped shape his development.

Tattooing found Bobby, not the other way around — through curiosity and an acceptance of his true artistic nature, previously ignored in times of uncertainty. What began as a quest of self-discovery became thirteen years of creating, over 2,500 pieces, and an ongoing exploration of creativity and ultimately the self.

Bobby believes color is felt even more than it's seen — that it is the visual gateway into emotions that can't be defined, only felt or experienced. Hue, saturation, and temperature each carry the ability to evoke something words can't quite reach. The result is stark, deeply contrasted work that can only be described as otherworldly — vivid, hypnotic, suspended between the real and the imagined.
